The term 'Facing the Giants' is taken from the Bible, referring to David's fight against Goliath. This is a film telling the true story of a modern day David, Marty Stevens, who goes up against a giant corporation to save his dying town. In this inspirational and inspiring movie written by Marty himself and directed by Natalie Coughlin it tells a universal story of hope and achievement through courage, determination and overcoming adversity in order to succeed in life. The film will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end with its dramatic footage that will leave you breathless. The film was made to help show people not to give up on their dreams no matter what the obstacles seem to be. This DVD will be one you will want to watch over and over again. It also involved some filming in the Catskills in upstate New York . The film was filmed in 2004. Many of the scenes were filmed at the historic Silver Stream Inn (the birth place of Ruth Van Valkenburgh), Columbia County's "South Mountain Park" (for some scenes), New Hope Community Church (Facing the Giants was shot on location) , The Hudson River Limousine, The Doubletree Hotel in New Paltz, Hudson Valley Hospital, South Mountain Inn resort in Wappinger, New York , Hudson River Park State Park, The Golden Apple Book Shop, Dolly's after hours restaurant in Kingston, Ilion Artisans Gallery. Casting took place in New York City. The actors included Domini Blythe, Traci Daniels, Jonathan Drake, Bob DeMarco, Jonathan Mardel, Marty Stevens, Bridgette Wilson and Bill Wilson. Mariano Denis directed the film with Natalie Coughlin as the producer. Both are from New York . Alan Sacks was the DP along with Paul Meyers for photography. John Figueroa was the editor along with Daniel Burdi Jr. for editing. Music was composed by Steve Shannon for score and sound design by Ed Stasiewicz of Stasiewicz Cinematronics . eccc085e13
